Position Summary:The Program Manager is responsible for assisting in the growth and development of the Alta Resources Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The Program Manager will assist the Executive Director in coordinating the activities of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation by working collaboratively with students, mentors, faculty, economic development entities, and the business community. The Program Manager is responsible for managing the center facilitates, marketing, consulting, and the operation of the business center by coordinating services and business development assistance to students and other Small Business Development Clients.


Responsibilities

70% General administrative



+ Oversee the day-to-day operation of the business center facility, including marketing the services and facility to recruit and screen potential center clients.


+ Manage grant process to maintain reporting complaince.


+ Determine performance objectives and monitor progress toward attainment of CEI goals


+ Develop and implement policies governing the operation of the center and student support that can be replicated on other four year campuses


+ Oversee the mentorship program for compliance and value added support


+ Assist with the development and planning of center budget


+ Develop tools and processes for program management and innovation efforts


+ Oversee seed money delegation to student organizations that comply with WEDC and program requirements


+ Oversee the accelerator cohort teams to include benchmarking on goal setting, program advancement, curriculum support, and mentorship support.


+ Assist with the CEI Business Model Contest to include program development, outreach support, logistics, financial budget, and marketing


+ Develop and maintain student intake process, level of support, counseling sessions, and goal attainment toward lean business development


+ Design, develop and implement appropriate programs and activities to address those needs and to meet the goals and objectives of the CEI's strategic plan.


+ Recommend organizational development strategies that will promote and support student business education and development.


+ Assist the Executive Director on program expansion to include summer incubation/accelerator projects and international student exchange


+ Develop strong partnership program with major donors to foster and further develop relationships that will offer opportunities for students


+ Other duties as assigned by executive director









10% Small Business Development Center Counselor



+ Provide direct business counseling to entrepreneurs and companies with under 500 employees


+ Maintain accurate, professional counseling records to comply with WSBDC regulations


+ Develop and maintain a client database, prepare periodic reports, and maintain records of projects


+ Coordinate the delivery of counseling services to students to insure business success


+ Attend monthly staff meetings, quarterly state meetings, and other SBDC programs as needed


+ Develop strategic goals and objectives for the client, monitor progress


+ Other duties as assigned by SBDC director






10% Recruitment and retention activities



+ Identify funding sources for the operation of the center and expansion opportunities


+ Assist in the development of the CEI's strategy to effectively market the center on campus and potentially statewide


+ Identify and nurture business opportunities and partners to maintain strong collaborations throughout the region


+ Develop and maintain relationships with area businesses interested in supporting a strong mentorship program






10% Outreach and Professional Development



+ Partner with local business development organizations and community chambers to support the growth and development of economic development in the community.


+ Attend professional development training courses as needed to remain competent and current.


+ Work closely with faculty from across campus to support student - faculty relationships in business feasibility


+ Promote the CEI and its programs at every available opportunity, with specific responsibilities for recruitment and promotion




Qualifications


Required:


+ Bachelor's degree in Business or related field


+ Evidence of strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills


+ Ability to network within the business community and the university


+ Ability to plan, organize, and deliver services to entrepreneurs and businesses


+ Excellent written and oral communication skills


+ Experience in business consulting, business startup, or entrepreneurial activity


+ Team player




Preferred:


+ Experience working with startup companies preferred


+ Previous record of building strong networks with business leaders, economic development agencies and other stakeholders preferred


+ Experience working with grant funding
